Liu Guohui, born in Sichuan, PRC. is currently a professor (PhD) of linguistics and graduate supervisor of College of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Maritime University, executive director of Chinese Cognitive Linguistics Society, Executive director of Chinese Pragmatics Society, Director of Chinese Language Education Society and director of Chinese English Teaching Society. Evaluation expert of National Social Science Project, evaluation expert of doctoral dissertation of Ministry of Education, evaluation expert of Shanghai graduate dissertation, member of the Fifth Discipline Evaluation Group of Shanghai Academic Degrees Committee.
He was once the dean of School of Foreign Languages, Hangzhou Normal University, executive director of Zhejiang Foreign Languages Association, and the president of Hangzhou Foreign Languages Association.
The vice dean of the 985 key university, Chongqing University, and PhD Supervisor of Chongqing key Research base of humanities social sciences as a full-time researcher, director of Chongqing Translation Society and Chongqing Foreign Languages Society. In June 2003, he graduated from the School of Foreign Languages, Fudan University with Ph.D. degree in Literature. His main research field is in theoretical linguistics, especially cognitive linguistics, pragmatics and English-Chinese contrastive studies.
In recent years he has published over 70 academic papers, in such journals as Contemporary Linguistics, Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Journal of Foreign Languages, Foreign Language Teaching, Foreign Language Study, China s Foreign Languages, Foreign Language and Foreign Language Teaching and other professional core or authoritative academic journals in China.
He has also published academic works like Contemporary Language Theory and Practical Exploration (Southwest Jiaotong University Press, 1999), Third Prize of Social Science by Sichuan Provincial Government in 2001, Introduction to Historical Comparative Linguistics (Sichuan University Press, 2000), Third prize of Excellent Scientific Research Achievements by Sichuan Provincial Department of Education in 2001. A Comparative Study of English-Chinese Request Strategies Theory from the Perspective of Politeness Pragmatics (Beijing Higher Education Press, 2007), A Study of Contemporary Linguistic Theory and Application (China Social Sciences Press, 2010). And A Dynamic-Integrational Approach to Nominalizations (Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press, 2021).
He has Presided over and participated in a number of social science projects at the provincial or ministerial level and above, completed the national social science project "On the Dynamic Integration of Word-Sentence-Text under the Perspective of Cognitive Science" (2012) on time and with quality within 3 years, which was passed with an excellent grade. During his doctoral studies in Fudan University, he won GE Award and Guanghua Second Prize for scientific research achievements. The doctoral dissertation "A Theoretical and Empirical Comparative Study of English-Chinese Request Strategies" (2003.6) has been included in China Outstanding Doctoral and Master's Dissertation Database (CDMD). Courses in general linguistics, pragmatics, cognitive linguistics and academic essay writing are offered to graduate students. In 2004 he was hired as an editor of the journal of Foreign Language and Literature Studies, 2005 second batch of outstanding young and middle-aged backbone teachers of higher education in Chongqing, excellent backbone teachers of Chongqing university in 2006, rated "excellent teacher", Chongqing university in 2007. as an editor of "Journal of Chongqing University , responsible for language research project. In 2008, he was selected as the candidate of the second academic and technical leader of Chongqing. In Aug. 2012-Aug. 2013, he went to University of Colorado, United States, as a senior visiting scholar. At the same time, he was also an anonymous evaluation expert for core or authoritative academic journals such as Foreign Languages and Modern Foreign Languages. From 2013 to now, he has been employed as a special evaluation expert for the academic journals of Foreign Languages Studies, Henan University. In 2014, he has been employed as an evaluation expert for Journal of Shanghai University for Science and Technology (Social Science edition). In 2014, he worked as an anonymous evaluation expert for Journal of PLA Foreign Language. Finally, he has delivered lectures for more than 10 times in Zhejiang University, Fudan University, National University of Defense Science and Technology, Southwest University, Shaanxi Normal University, Henan University and other universities, and hosted several national high-level academic conferences.
